Often water asset owners encounter a situation where concrete has been inadvertently discharged into a critical section of their pipe network. The pipeline may be completely or partially blocked. Interflow’s new hydraulic milling robot is designed to remove the concrete and bring the network back online much faster than conventional methods.

Interflow’s hydraulic milling machine is a self-propelled unit and is intended for work inside sewer and stormwater pipes of diameters between 150 and 600 mm.

The powerful hydraulic milling unit has a 5 kW capacity motor, much higher than conventional electric or pneumatic milling machines. However, more important than the simple motor capacity is the performance of the machine under working conditions.

The main advantage of the hydraulic motor is its superior reliability and performance even under load. The hydraulic milling machine can achieve more power than other alternatives when higher resistance loads are encountered.

Interflow determined these features to be extremely important to achieve faster concrete removal rates. The greater productivity and performance of the hydraulic milling machine allows water asset managers to carry out difficult pipe remediation works at a much quicker rate leading to many more pipelines being treated.

It is expected the most common requests for the hydraulic milling unit will include pipeline condition assessments and subsequent rehabilitation activities, emergency response requirements and regular ongoing maintenance works.
